Born into a musical family, John Ladds’ passion for music was ignited early. Growing up as the son of a minister, John honed his vocal skills singing hymns and psalms, while his mother—a piano teacher—introduced him to his first instrument. Though he can read music, John’s natural talent for playing by ear quickly became his hallmark.
The turning point came over 40 years ago when John picked up his first guitar. It became the key to unlocking his creativity, allowing him to not only master his favorite songs but reimagine them with his own unique flair. From that moment on, music became more than a hobby—it became a calling.
For more than two decades, John has shared his passion on stage, performing 1-3 shows a month with unwavering energy. Whether playing solo, collaborating in duos or trios, or leading his own band, The John Ladds Band, John’s performances are a blend of talent, heart, and authenticity. His band flexibly shifts from a trio to a full ensemble, delivering unforgettable live experiences tailored to any occasion.
John’s love for music extends beyond the stage. For 10 consecutive years, he has organized CanJam, a food bank fundraiser that brings the community together through music. Last year’s event, featuring an 8-piece band, raised $6,000 and entertained over 200 attendees.
In addition to his solo and band work, John also lends his guitar skills to a Melissa Etheridge tribute band, adding yet another dimension to his musical journey.
